Artist Message

 

With subject matters ranging from children/teens to business, editorial and games, Pollak's technique combines collage, digital painting, scanned textures and found objects to create unusual visual stories.
Barbara's clients have included Continental, Fortune, Time For Kids, The Washington Post, Utne, Scholastic Girl's Life, Newsday and Seventeen.

She has illustrated several YA book series including DISH (Penguin Putnam), Girl Stuff (Harcourt Brace), Mallory McDonald (Lerner).
Most recently, Ms. Pollak authored and illustrated her first picture book, "Our Community Garden" and is currently working on her next book about a girl with lots of pockets.

Ms. Pollak lives in San Francisco with her little family and numerous small animals.
