Artist Message
The botanicals, hats and shoes shown here are from an extensive and growing inventory of images that includes toys, dolls, and other everyday objects. I used flatbeds scanners to capture many of these. This "collecting" is strongly influenced by my affection for Charles and Ray Eames and their "House of Cards" deck that celebrates the extraordinary in ordinary things, as well as my fascination with Loteria cards. Images from the inventory often find their way into portraits, and currently I am creating my own deck of Loteria cards. All images have been registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.
