Artist Message
David Plunkert and Joyce Hesselberth founded their design and illustration studio, Spur Design, in 1995. Dave Plunkert's illustration has been seen in BusinessWeek, Forbes, Reader's Digest, Time and The Wall Street Journal among others. He has received illustration awards from Communications Arts, the Society of Illustrators, The Society of Publication Design and American Illustration. He was included in the group show "America Illustrata" which completed its international tour in 2000. He is a founding member of the Illustrators Partnership of America. As a graphic designer, Plunkert's work has won many national design awards from the Advertising Association of Baltimore, Communication Arts, Graphis, Print and the New York Type Director's Club. His design clients include AIRS, Goucher College, Maryland Historical Society, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, MTV Networks and Roll Call. Plunkert has taught graphic design at the Maryland Institute College of Art and at Shepherd College, and has lectured for various chapters of the AIGA, throughout the US. He served for two years on the Board of Directors of AIGA Baltimore. |
