Kent Smith’s mission is to open people’s eyes to the extraordinary in what might seem ordinary. As a professional photographer, his portfolio includes sports, fashion, lifestyle and entertainment images. “My philosophy is to make heroes out of everyday people,” Smith said. He strives to capture the true emotion, personality and intensity in each of his subjects. Smith lives and works out of Charlotte, N.C. He is the team photographer for Carolina Panthers NFL team and Charlotte Bobcats NBA team, and was the team photographer for the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team and Charlotte Hornets NBA team. Advertising clients include Alltel, Bank of America, MSNBC, Basset Furniture, Brooks Brothers, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Wachovia and Pepsi. He has published images in national magazines including Vogue, People, Newsweek, Slam and Sports Illustrated. He was also featured in Communication Arts Advertising Annual and Shutterbug Magazine. His passion for photography surfaced at age 12 when his parents gave him a point-and-shoot camera for his birthday. He credits his family for providing an environment that nurtured his creativity and personal exploration. “Some people spend a lifetime searching for one true passion,” Smith said. “but I am spending a lifetime perfecting one passion – photography.” Smith is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, Advertising Photographers of America and the National Press Photographers Association. |
