Klip Collective, an award-winning innovator in high-end, large-scale video installation content and technology, has joined the global creative representation agency Friend + Johnson.
Founded in 2003 by photographer Pier Nicola D'Amico and video artist Ricardo Rivera, Klip Collective is in the vanguard of video installation artists transforming the medium into an immersive, interactive, completely customized experience. They are the inventors of the Klip EffectTM, a proprietary process which couples an experienced team of video artists with video mapping of existing architectural features, for distortion-free, seamless integration of image and space.
"We take 100-year-old buildings and bring them to life," commented Rivera. "We meld architecture, filmmaking, photography, graphic design, sculpture, and light design to create something completely cohesive. It's not for the architecture, it's of the architecture."
"We believe in the gestalt of bringing together all the elements -- talented, passionate people, fresh technology and innovative processes -- to make exciting new work," he said. "That's why we're a collective."
The Philadelphia-based firm made a splash with the virtual debut of the 2011 Infiniti M at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Instead of an actual car, Klip Collective created a dynamic video installation projected onto a foam model. Wired magazine reported that attendees who lined up to see the unveiling were "wowed" by the high tech display. Other clients include: Kenneth Cole, Nissan, W Hotels, Motorola, SyFy and Stella Artois. Their awards include Mediaweek's Media Plan of the Year, and numerous regional and local ADDY awards.
"We're thrilled to represent these artists at the leading edge of their field, recognized not only for groundbreaking creative work, but also for innovative technology," commented Beth Johnson, agent/owner, Friend + Johnson.
Klip Collective's work includes everything from permanent commissions to one-night events, in both interior spaces and on exterior building facades. They manage all aspects of the installation process including creative direction, content creation, equipment and interactive design, on-site production and permits, and installation.
