Neale Osborne celebrates two major composers

This year the classical music world celebrates the 150th anniversary of two giants of Scandinavian music: Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, and Dane Carl Nielsen. And, as a regular contributor to the ‘Lebrecht Music + Arts’ Picture Library, illustrator Neale Osborne has produced a number of caricatures of Nielsen and Sibelius in his distinct inky dip pen style. One of these pieces will shortly be appearing on a new CD from the renowned Chandos label (Neale’s second CD cover to date).

For over twenty years now, classical music has played a major part in Neale’s artistic output; so it always gives him a ‘surreal pride’ to see his work in music magazines (he's produced over fifty pieces for The Gramophone) and in concert programmes (from the Mariinsky Opera to the BBC Proms).
Conicidentally, he tells us that the last CD he bought was a recording of Nielsen’s fine Violin Concerto - no doubt, he’ll be picking up a copy of the Symphonies soon …
