Rudy Gutierrez, who is known both nationwide and internationally as an acclaimed illustrator and fine artist, have tackled and brought light to many social problems throughout his career. With art that has been described as “Wall Medicine”, and “ancient yet contemporary, urban in a sense and musical in feel”, Gutierrez has shown people his own view on incidents like 9/11 and social issues such as Apartheid. His latest work, which was made as a reaction to the tragic shooting that occurred in Charleston last month, reads with the caption: “Call it what it is. Homegrown Terrorism.”
