Earlier this summer, professional photographer Dana Hursey wrote an article on his blog, titled “That Photo’s Not Free!” which talked about copyright-issues of people using photographs taken from the internet without permission from the artist. After the article got a huge amount of positive responses, Dana recently decided that it was time to wright a follow-up, titled “WHY That Photo’s Not Free!”; though a lot of people may understand that grabbing another person’s work and using it without his/her consent is an issue, not all may understand WHY this is such a big deal. By answering this question in full detail, Dana sheds a light on a problem that might, until today, be unknown to the majority of people outside the business of photography.
