Artist Message
Shingo Shimizu graduated from OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design) with a diploma in Graphic Design. He then went on to work for various design firms including, X Corporation and Modem Media. Behind the scenes, he was a DJ in lounges and clubs. Through his associations with club promoters, he designed artwork for their flyers and posters. Given full creative freedom, he decided to use his own illustrations. The eye catchy graphic illustrations became popular and eventually Art Directors took notice. Since then, Shingo has moved on to Illustration full time, and has created works for Coca-cola, Nokia, and Scholastic, to name a few. He brings influences of manga and old record covers in layers of vector and scanned textures. Currently he works out of his design studio in Toronto, and pursuing DJing again. |
