Hancock Shoots Indy 500 Champions From Over The Years

In the week that was leading up to the 100th Indy 500 (at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway), photographer Andrew Hancock had decided to do something extra special for his interrelated, ESPN-backed, portrait project on the race’s different drivers and champions.

Having waited for over 6 years on the right occasion, Andrew finally decided that it was time to put his old (and expired) Polaroid 4X5 Type55 B&W film to good use. Along with their portraits, different contestants from entirely different eras of racing give their stories of what it was like to compete in the Indy 500 and how it felt to be the first one over the finish line.
