Andreas von Buddenbrock Illustrates for World’s Largest Coloring Book!

Oct 25, 2018

On October 12, Swedish Illustrator and Altpick member, Andreas von Buddenbrock, was proud to announce the unveiling of the World’s Largest Coloring Book — one that he, along with the children of Po Leung Kuk school in Hong Kong, created the illustrations for! Crafted and funded by UBS, the project set out to have over 500 school children imagine the future of Hong Kong and put their thoughts to paper. Once the best works had been selected, each of the winning children’s ideas was to be “re-imagined” by Andreas, who (using some inspiration from classic Sci-Fi), set out to create a series of black and white, realistically drawn illustrations to be colored in!

In order to beat the former held Guinness World Record, the book then had to be printed into pages the size of of 2 x 7 meters (6.5" x 23”)! For the official unveiling event, Andreas also held short drawing and coloring courses before children from all over Hong Kong got a chance to make their mark by coloring in the book’s giant pages. Mid-way through the day-long event. the Guinness judges announced their approval of the book and it’s new place in the Guinness Book of World Records!

More info about the event and the process of making the book can be found on Andreas’s official Instagram in the link below.
