“SuperNature” Solo Show by Ray-Mel Cornelius Opens This Month

Sep 12, 2019

Coming right off of the success of Ray-Mel Cornelius’s latest show, the August group exhibition “Chaos 7”, comes a solo show centered purely on Ray-Mel’s depictions on some of nature’s smaller and sometimes overlooked components. The show, titled “SuperNature” is described as such:

“Scale is an issue in nature as well as art. The smallest things in our experience can be, as Georgia O’Keefe reminded us, overlooked, while the large understandably dominates our everyday lives.

This body of work takes the small and recontextualizes it into a format that demands our attention. I am also considering the large, both real as in landscapes and its inhabitants and in the fantasies of popular culture, in more intimate works.”

The show, which can be experienced at the Ro2 Art Gallery in Dallas, TX, from September 21 to October 19, will also include Ray-Mel’s ongoing painting series of United States birds.
