Orvidas Illustrates Diversity Problem In Clinical Trials

For any new treatment drug to be considered safe and effective, clinical trials with actual patients have to be made. Unfortunately, these trials tend to lack in diversity, which can pose a problem when trying to make accurate readings on the general population.

Nadine Barrett, PhD, associate director of community engagement and stakeholder strategy at Duke Cancer Institute, is studying differences in behavior among a variety of people and is one of the front-runners in trying to make clinical studies more diverse.
