"This image is a reaction to the social upheaval happening across our country right now providing an opportunity for serious change. Clearly, there isn’t just one image to summarize everything that is happening but I wanted to make some kind of statement about the need for justice, equality, and meaningful change. I felt that the dying words of Eric Garner in New York and George Floyd in Minnesota and so many others that we don’t hear about captures so much of the strength of the movement and the intensity of the pain."
