Mark Smith Illustrates Philip Marlowe for Special Alta Noir Issue

Nov 09, 2020

Who doesn’t like a cynical, whiskey-drinking detective or a mysterious femme fatale? The “Noir” genre of books, movies, games and other media have captivated audiences since the first half of the 20th century, with murder mysteries, flawed characters and recognizable aesthetics remaining as popular today as ever before.

This could very well be why Alta Magazine recently decided to dedicate an entire special section to the genre. In a featured article titled “What If Philip Marlowe Fell in Love?” (an essay dedicated to Raymond Chandler’s classic “Farewell, My Lonely”), we see a couple of wonderful new illustrations by Altpick member Mark Smith. You can find the article in its entirety here or by scrolling the main page of Alta Online.
