Irene Peña took to the streets of San José, Costa Rica, recently while shooting for local clothing brand “RE TURN”. The brand, which makes sustainable garments from recycled fabrics, is releasing a new collection titled “Cotidiana 2” that was designed around the idea of wearing comfortable clothing in a tropical climate such as San José.
The shoot took place in several locations around the city, specifically in Barrio Otova and Barrio Amon, where one can find a natural mix of urban art. “Even though San José is a small area, compared to much larger cities”, said Irene, ”it can get crowded during the week, with both traffic and people. Which is why we decided on shooting early on a Sunday morning when the streets become empty and very quiet.”
According to Irene, the lack of bystanders also allowed her models to move more freely and be more spontaneous, which is something she tends to prefer for her shoots.
