“For ‘THE PEOPLE!’“, says illustrator Rudy Gutierrez while sharing some of his artworks that have focused particularly on the topic of spirits. He adds: “And for the Spirit Warriors of the light among us, we celebrate the power of the culture so that we may protect our spirits!”
The images presented with Rudy’s statement (under the collective title “Spirits Known and Unknown”) are a collection of mixed media paintings originally created for a variety of demos at Pratt Institute.
In sharing these beautiful pieces, Rudy also reminds us of a quote by Native American author, artist, and activist, John Trudell: “Protect your spirit, because you are in the place where spirits get eaten.”
