Simon Puschmann's Newest Series "Jump The Gun"

Simon Puschmann's newest series "Jump the Gun" approaches the English language of idioms as a visual form of expression through photography.

"I collected idioms and tried to illustrate them through photographs. As a foreigner in a new country you develop a different appreciation for a language. I love English and I love idioms and expressions- I love comparing those to my own language. I started collecting expressions and abbreviations at the very beginning of my stay - ten-four, same page, kick the bucket, I am 5k ... some of them are impossible to illustrate in photography, others are simply asking for it. I gathered a group of friends and their friends and shot over the course of 2 weekends in a recording-studio-to-be that belonged to two of my friends. The studio was still being set up and renovated when we shot. In between the two sessions a huge part of the wall was taken out for a window to be. So half of the shots were shot in-front of a brick wall. The other have was shot with half a window in the BG".

All the people in the shots are either family ( my sons and wife - my son actually assisted me )or friends from Boston. Musicians, a poet, a famous Boston jeweler etc. A very interesting mix of people. Regular folks, not models.", Puschmann comments.
