Mark Peterman's The Cooperstate 1000 for Road & Track

Last year Mark Peterman was commissioned by Road & Track Magazine to create a travel story on The Copperstate 1000, one of the premier vintage car road rallies in North America. Each year a new route covers 1,000 miles of desert terrain, river valley and alpine landscape over a four day journey through Arizona. To qualify, all of the participating automobiles must be manufactured before the 1974 model year.

Mark and crew followed Road & Track Executive Editor Sam Smith who was riding with Contributing Editor Colin Comer in his 1958 Lister-Jaguar “Knobbly”. The story appears in the June edition of the magazine. This is a sample from their adventure…
