John Kuczala Depicts “The Sipping Point”

Jul 30, 2015

For anyone who might be confused about the term “Photo illustration”, which is photographer and illustrator John Kuczala’s main line of work, a great summary was made a while back when writer Tom Kirkman did an interview with the artist:

“Photo illustration has a definite agenda; it is not constrained by objectivity and is often ‘mixed media’, containing models or constructions that don't appear in the ‘real world’ unless placed there. Kuczala's photos, either on their own or supporting type or copy, are visual metaphors that convey an entire story, narrative, and perspective in a single arresting image—by any means possible. They often embody wry humor.”

This is certainly true of John’s latest imagery, which can be found in this month’s issue of Experience Life magazine, accompanying an article (cleverly titled “The Sipping Point”) on women and drinking.
