My follow up book to the Caldecott Honor award winning book Double Bass Blues by Andrea J. Loney
A heartwarming... story written by my wife DK Dyson about finding joy in art and intergenerational friendship illustrated by Caldecott Honor artist Rudy Gutierrez.
Rudeday dreams of creating art that brings people joy but instead, he paints to pay the bills. His days and nights are long, until one day he hears a Tap! Tap! Tap! at his window. What could it be? Rudeday sees a piece of string with a paper clip tied to the end of it, coming from the apartment upstairs. Rudeday has a brilliant idea.
Rudeday carefully paints a fish and attaches it to the paper clip, starting a window-fishing exchange with a little boy upstairs. The pair swap paper fishes back and forth every day. Rudeday is finally painting for fun but he wonders if he will ever meet his window-fishing friend.
A heartwarming story that celebrates art, friendship, and community that is sure to pull at your heartstrings.

NORMAN ROCKWELL MUSEUM EXHIBITION "IMPRINTED ILLUSTRATING RACE"
I had the honor of being part of this historic exhibition exhibiting two paintings.
June 11 through October 30, 2022 To be traveling in the near future.
Imprinted: Illustrating Race examines the role of published images in shaping attitudes toward race and culture. Over 300 artworks and objects on view of widely circulated illustrated imagery will be on view, produced from the late eighteenth century to today, which have an impact on public perception about race in the United States.
The exhibition explored stereotypical racial representations that have been imprinted upon us through the mass publication of images. It culminated with the creative accomplishments of contemporary artists and publishers who have shifted the cultural narrative through the creation of positive, inclusive imagery emphasizing full agency and equity for all.
I also collaborated with my wife DK Dyson on creating musical playlists coinciding with the era presented in each gallery room. and participated in an online symposium:
