Ted Wright's earliest memory of drawing came at the young age of five, while growing up at the family farm in Fredericktown, Missouri he asked his Grandfather Theodore Marion Wright, to draw a horse for him. His Grandfather handed him a pencil from his shirt pocket and told him to try and draw it himself. When he finished drawing the horse, Ted knew that art was his calling. From that day on, he knew exactly what he wanted to be when he grew up and never looked back.

A St. Louis native, Ted studied graphic illustration, printmaking and photography for two years and at the age of 20 began his first internship at a well-known St. Louis advertising agency. Ted refined his talent by participating in two Illustrators Workshops(New York and Kansas City) where he studied under masters Bernie Fuchs, Robert Heindel, Mark English, Bob Peak, Alan Cober, Bart Forbes and John Collier. Ted then freelanced and worked as a Senior Illustrator at Maritz Motivation Company with a career spanning over 20 years where he created original works for a multitude of Fortune 500 companies such as Anheuser Busch, AT&T, Philip Morris, Mercury Records, Toyota, Honda, Lexus, Chrysler, General Motors, Hartford Insurance, Wang, General American and the Jamaican Tourist Board.

Inspired by the German typography and poster artists Lucian Bernard and Ludwig Holwein, Ted evolved his own graphic iconic style into a unique and recognizable art form that led him to work with entertainers John Denver, Dwight Yoakam, Bob Hope, Michael Martin Murphy, Ray Charles, Diane Schuur, Lyle Lovett and Johnny Cash. Ted's distinct style has earned him prestigious commissions in the sports industry to create original works for The Tiger Woods Foundation, The Byron Nelson PGA Classic, St. Louis Rams, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Rangers, the Salt Lake City Olympics and the Australian Olympics. One of Ted's most recent assignments commissioned by the Boston Harbor Islands Alliance can be seen throughout the city of Boston as a series of icons depicting each islandÕs unique environment and promoting tourism to the Boston Harbor Islands. Outdoor and nature illustrations have become one of TedÕs favorite subject matters and by adding in earthy textures, his art has become a perfect fit for environmental causes and wildlife settings such as The California Game Warden Foundation and Napa Valley wine vineyards.

Ted’s list of accolades include numerous awards from The Society of Illustrators New York and Los Angeles, The American Institute of Graphic Arts(AIGA), New York Art Directors Club, and industry publications such as Print Design Annual, Communication Arts, Step By Step Graphics, How Magazine, The Big Show and GRAPHIS Design. Most recently, Ted was awarded a gold medal from the 2007 GRAPHIS Poster competition for his works of The Boston African American National Historic Site.
