Barbara Kosoff began her career as a graphic designer and art director working in both the US and abroad. Her interest in getting back to creating art (sans the computer) led her to create mixed-media and assemblage works on paper. Ever the traditionalist, she works by cutting and pasting photographic images found in magazines and pop culture publications, paper bags, and other random sources, then combines them with drawing and painting with oil bars. Her background as an art director has influenced her in making thought-provoking and whimsical work. Barbara’s artwork has been exhibited in Los Angeles at Barnsdall Park Municipal Arts Gallery, Bonhams & Butterfields, Upstairs at the Market Gallery, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA) in Santa Ana, the Venice Art Crawl, the James Gray Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, The Whole 9 Gallery in Culver City, Hadid Gallery in West Hollywood, BG in Santa Monica, LA City Hall Rotunda Gallery, Malibleu Gallery in Malibu, Wildfire Studios in Los Angeles, Hale Arts Space, FABstudio Gallery, Ron Robinson in Santa Monica and The Six in Calabasas. As a graphic designer, Barbara Kosoff's work has been published in Communication Arts, and she has won awards from Graphic Design USA, the Beldings and Society of Illustrators. Her clients include Disney, Fox, Warner Brothers, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, The Los Angeles Times and Scientific American Mind Magazine. |
