Umberto Grati Illustrates in Three Dimensions

Apr 10, 2017

Being a master at drawing does not necessarily equal a mastery in sculpting, as many people might have realized when first using the hight-tech LIX pen. Luckily, illustrator and Altpick member, Umberto Grati, has proven that he can be a master at both.

Virtually being a handheld 3D-printer, the LIX pen uses colorized plastic that is first melted down and then instantly cooled off, quite literally giving the user an ability to create rigid lines “out of thin air”. Although currently being at a “beginner” stage, Umberto has so far created a number of remarkable illustrations with this new tool - some of which can be seen in the recently shared photos below. We’re now waiting with excitement to see what other, fantastic three-dimensional images he an come up with as his technique becomes even more refined!
