Hong Kong-based illustrator, Andreas von Buddenbrock, was happy to announce that his latest cover illustration for Southside Magazine is finally being published. The cover depicts William “Snakeman” Sargent, a true expert when it comes to snakes and the man to go to when faced with reptile-related problems in the Hong Kong region.
Sargent is a strong believer in educating people about the creatures he handles on a daily basis — making people less afraid and more aware of their nature — which is why he devotes much of his time giving talks to schools and other groups in and around the city. The mighty animal seen curled around Sargent’s arms in Andreas’ meticulously detailed illustration is called a banded krait, one of Hong Kong’s most poisonous snakes.
