This month, Hyperallergic Magazine writes about “Yayoki Kusama: From Here to Infinity”, a unique children’s book about the life and artistic evolution of Yayoi Kusama, written by MoMA curator, Sarah Suzuki, and beautifully illustrated by Altpick member, Ellen Weinstein.
The book, which has been officially authorized by Kusama herself, aims to both “explore the artist’s particular approach to art” and “expand children’s perspectives on art and its role in our lives” - to quote MoMA Publications’ Marketing and Production Manager Hannah Kim. Kim also adds that much of the book’s current success stems from Ellen’s masterful illustrations, which take inspiration by Kusama’s work but simultaneously avoids parroting her style.
