Jonathan's Gone Upper Class

recently commissioned Jonathan Williams to do six images promoting Virgin Atlantic\'s Upper Class suite. Appearing in the UK press, on the internet and billboards across London, the illustrations mix cliches of the English landed gentry with familiar aspects of New York, San Francisco, Sydney, Hong Kong and Tokyo. The statue of Liberty delicately sips tea, an easy rider hunts foxes, Bruce Lee wears a monocle and so on. Tactical use of irony subverts the played-out generic of long-haul aviation and affirms the target audience of self-confessed wanabees.
