Kamper Shares Secrets To Piggybacking On Video Shoots

Sep 23, 2019

Photos from George Kamper’s latest shoot for Intellibed isn’t only a marvel to look at, but they also come with some behind-the-scenes information on what goes on when shooting in tandem with a video crew. Sometimes, shooting both stills and video simultaneously can save the client thousands of dollars, yet having two crews working together still demands a lot of carefully thought out coordination. Luckily, George and his crew are veterans when it comes to “piggybacking” on these type of video shoots. For one of his latest photos (see: family sitting on bed), George had this to share:

“Many photographers like to capture everything on set and in the camera. Well, if you truly understand the situation and have the skills, you can become everyone’s friend and gain much more access to sets and shots by capturing what you need and compositing whatever is necessary to use the time as efficiently as possible.

In this case we captured the bed and window set in one shot and then dropped in various people/lifestyle scenarios onto the one master shot. Saved the crew a ton of time this way and I think this allowed us to get more time on set.”

You can read more about the shoot, the video and behind-the-scenes stories on George’s official blog (linked below).
