Wetter Re-Imagines His Re-Imagination

Sep 02, 2020

“Mega-Groot & Benatar at Bridal Veil Falls” is a re-imagination of Oliver Wetter’s re-imagination of Albert Bierstadt’s classic piece. After its original creation in 2014 (from Bierstadt’s 1871-1873 painting), many viewers were under the impression that Oliver’s wooden giant was none other than “Groot” from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” Marvel film series. According to Oliver, the giant was created before the films came out, but given his follower's response he decided to re-imagine his creation in 2020 - this time with said character. As you may notice, the image also now includes the crashed remains of “Benatar”, the film series’ famous space ship.

“All in all it was harder than it looks to match the rough structure and painting style”, said Oliver, “but lots of fun nonetheless. And in case you wonder why Groot is so big, I‘d love to read your story about it”
