Project Honor by Victo Ngai

Jun 04, 2021

“To be Asian is an Honor.”

The goal of Project Honor is to show a community of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) members being unapologetically proud of who they are and to capture the joy, diversity and pride found in everyday moments.

"In the work, I chose shades of gold, as it is the most prized color across many Asian cultures, symbolizing strength, beauty, success and triumph. The lettering is inspired by a Chinese proverb about solidarity, which translates to “It’s easy to break one chopstick, but they become unbreakable when put together.

After a tough year of pain and strife within the AAPI community, it is an honor to uplift all through my art and continue to celebrate their accomplishments beyond May." - Victo Ngai
