Alicia J. Rose's Portland Photo Projects

Oct 09, 2008

The nice folks at Rangefinder Magazine did a little feature on Alicia J. Rose's work in their October issue. They called it "Deep Inside The Rabbit Hole with Alicia J. Rose". It features various music pix, ballet pix and portraits. Their sister content site - Rangefinder Radio will also be posting an interview they did with Alicia in the next few days!

Porland magazine, XLR8R, hired Alicia to shoot their style section as well as other local luminaries amounting to a very colorful and authentic personal portrait of this little city of roses' music and art scene. Alicia said "It was an honor and a pleasure to get to work with so many talented people, and to get to know even more about the city I have called home since 1995." You can pick up a copy at a newsstand near you!

People are saying very nice things about Alicia's recently released accordion/violin/voice duet album as Miss Murgatroid with the multi-talented Miss Petra Haden. It's called Hearts & Daggers, and here's what a few critics have said...

"This is cutting-edge stuff: symphonic lushness and dreamy, vocals not too distant from the soundscapes of Sigur Rós, balanced by a dangerous avant-garde lurch that will please fans of such composers as Tom Waits, Philip Glass and Laurie Anderson." - Tucson Weekly.

"This is an album that exists in its own magical aesthetic realm, or better yet an infinite number of them all at once." - DustedMagazine.com

"Hearts & Daggers is a modern and moving piece of craftsmanship." - Portland Monthly

You can download and listen to Hearts & Daggers for yourself via Itunes or procure the corporeal version (featuring stunning art by Christine Shields) at a music retailer near you! Petra is also featured on her father, Charlie Haden's new album Rambing Boy.
