Rea's Flaming Painting(s) In Music Video

Feb 10, 2003

Working with the directorial team of Kuntz & Maguire, altpick.com member Brian Rea produced 15 paintings for the \"Danger! High Voltage\" music video for the Detroit based band Electric Six. To save some bucks and maintain the vintage flavor of the treatment, the director and Rea took a road trip down to Baltimore and raided the thrift stores searching for old ornate frames and pre-stretched canvases that he could paint over or work with. They were aiming for awkward imagery and uncomfortable moments. Little birds breathing fire on children in wheelchairs, tennis players with missing arms, doomed whale-hunts, deer heads, etc. The paintings are hung salon style on the back wall of the set and close crops and quick edits of portions of each painting are used throughout the video.

THE BEST PART... the last painting in the video goes up in flames!!
