Rick Souders Offers Some Tips To Photography Students

Jun 15, 2015

Rick Souders has specialized in shooting food for almost 30 years and his company Souders Studios has one of the largest food photography studios in the Rocky Mountain West. Though the team also shoots a lot of flame and splash photography, it is best known for its creative solutions in photographing food and beverage.

Rick was interviewed lately by Hallmark Institute of Photography before his public appearance in front of the school’s students, where he talked about his personal means of creating “mouth-watering” food images. One of the tips offered by Rick was to “capture the fine detail”. He explains:

“Attention to detail is important and adds that extra depth to the image and pushes the taste appeal envelope. The tighter you are on the food, the more it feels like it is in your face, and that prompts the senses of taste and visual appeal.”
