Jason Dailey photographed another great talent out of Lawrence, KS, Ashley Davis who has garnered a following with her soulful and haunting Celtic compositions.
"Ashley found the perfect little cabin that fit her vision", says Dailey. "The new cd would be titled “Night Travels”. So the look of the images had to have that vibe. The balance of all the different lighting we were using was tricky."
Dailey continues to say, "The plan was to be set up well before sunset but as things go we arrived just before. As soon as I set up the camera at the location it started to rain. Just a little. At twilight we were racing the rain as well as the sunset. Our pre-production discussions about the look and style helped us to set up and get things rolling quickly."
"During the shoot I remember thinking the darker it became the better the images were looking. Turns out I was half right, the cover image came about halfway through losing the daylight. In typical fashion the back cover image was the very first test shot before we were “ready”."
