Barraclough Takes His Remote Shoots Back In Time

Oct 02, 2023

Photographer Keith Barraclough is back with two new and amazing sets of photographs that take both the Redhead Project and remote shoots to new heights! Having subjects that were both granted access to museums in Winnipeg, Canada, and Gonzales, TX, Keith was given a wonderful opportunity to capture the ancestral roots of said people, with locations and props that perfectly fit the storytelling of the respective shoots.

First up was Margaux Miller in Winnipeg, whose grandfather’s background as an airplane mechanic for Air Canada is a contributing factor to her passion for international travel and exploration. Shooting at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada (with the picture-taking iPhone being held by the museum’s marketing specialist, Vanessa Desorcy, who in turn received cues from Keith), Margaux can be seen both in front of and inside several of the locale’s vintage aircraft. One of these, as it turns out, is the very same airplane her grandfather worked on for the World Fair Expo of 1967!

The second shoot, which took place inside the Old Jail Museum in Gonzales, sees forensic artist, Natalie Murry, tap into her paternal ancestral roots in Texas law enforcement and public service. Dressed as an old-time lawman wearing Australian cowboy boots (a nod to her maternal ancestry), Natalie had a chance to show her passion for both genealogy and history as her sister — cued by Keith — did the photographing between the carved walls of the 130+-year-old+ building.

Closing out, Keith said: “Deep thanks to the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada and the Old Jail Museum in Gonzales, Texas for granting special access in these historic spaces and artifacts for these remote shoots to tell Margaux’s and Natalie’s interesting stories. And thank you to Margaux and Natalie for collaborating and sharing them with me.”
