The author, Jonathan Franzen, is also a writer for New Yorker magazine, received critical acclaim and earned a National Book Award for his book 'The Corrections" published in 2001. "Corrections" was also selected for "Oprah Winfrey's Book Club" , which Franzen reacted negatively and caused Winfrey to 'uninvited' Franzen's book from the book club. At that time it stirred up some controversy with the top selling author and TV host. Most recently, Franzen's novel "Freedom" published in August 2010 and is currently number one on The New York Times Best Sellers list (Hardcover Fiction).
