The phrase “a shot in the dark” isn’t so much a guess as it is a challenge, at least when it comes to outdoor photography.
Shooting in a grove of redwood trees right down the street from his studio space, Robert Houser expresses the difficulties of working with limited light sources - particularly when shooting at sunset. “Lighting, especially with motion, is a challenge. This series was shot between 1/13 and 1/40 of a second at last light.”
