Irene Pena's "The Girl in the Bubble“ image was shot in 2003 in San Jose, Costa Rica, with an analog Holga 120 camera. It was part of a conceptual fine art photography project titled “Arte Sobre el Cuerpo”, where eight different well known local artists participated, along with local professional dancers, which served as models. Each artist created a wardrobe for each image/ dancer that was based on concepts revolving on themes of self-image and ecology. This image shows the artwork (bubble) of Costarican textile artist Herbert Bolaños, and is based on concepts of nature and our environment.
