Sometimes we may not get what we seek, but what we find might just be so much better. This may be the case for photographer Jason Burfield, who, when out looking for large birds in North Carolina, ended up finding something a lot less feathery — a gorgeous looking butterfly, defining gravity with its tiny limbs. He states: “Saw one massive heron but couldn’t get to him. Settled for this little guy instead. I was mesmerized by how it was able to hang upside down with such small touch points”.
As it so happens, Jason still found his big birds some days later and produced several excellent images of a Great Blue Heron and a Black Vulture. These photos can also be viewed here below.
