During Urs J. Knobel's visit to New York City on November 10th he was fortunate enough to see Saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin's performance at Birdland Jazz Club in the theater district. Knobel sketched a series of live images during Benjamin's performance as she was showcasing music from her new album, "Phoenix".
Benjamin is a prominent figure in the modern jazz, funk, and soul music scene. Her album "Phoenix" has been recognized with a 2024 Grammy Award nomination for Best Album and was nominated in both composition and performance categories.
