Andrew Hancock Documents the 141st Kentucky Derby Win for NYT

"The favorite American Pharoah and the jockey Victor Espinoza (2) make their move to win the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby on a sun-filled Saturday at Churchill Downs. The photographer Andrew Hancock attended his ninth derby today, working with a crew of five to shoot the race itself. "I stay pretty occupied trying to manage a crew and 18-20 cameras," he said earlier today. He said he was looking to shoot both the action and the scene." "The horses are equally as graceful as they are powerful. It really is a majestic sport."
