German-Hungarian artist and illustrator, Hanna Barczyk resides in Montreal, Canada and uses emotion and concept to create meaningful illustrations. Sh...e believes art is a way to connect, feel empathy, tell stories and create social change.With her colourful, bold and minimalist style she transforms complex ideas into simple creative solutions. She has collaborated with clients such as The MoMA, Apple, META, The New York Times, The New Yorker, TIME, United Nations, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Vogue, Penguin/RandomHouse, Pentagram, among many others.
Barczyk has been a visiting artist lecturer at School of Visual Art (NYC), Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY), MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore), Bronx Community College (NYC) and Concordia (Montreal, QC).
Barczyk’s work been recognized by the Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Communication Arts, Society of News Design, Society of Publication Designers, Creative Quarterly and 3 X 3 (magazine of contemporary illustration). She has also been the recipient of the Melville White Award, received "Honourable Mention" from 3x3 Magazine and has been the subject of a feature in Communication Arts Magazine.
Her paintings have been exhibited in the USA, Canada and Germany.
When not at work in her studio, Barczyk paints and likes to drink espresso, dance, ride her bike, lose herself in a good book. She is currently studying French which will be her 5th language.
